It seems wind turbines are spreading across the UK quite quickly. According to this article more than 1,200 new wind turbines will appear in the British countryside next year. 763 onshore turbines are due to be built this year and 4,366 are currently in operation. 7,483 more turbines have been approved and are yet to be built. Wind power now provides around 10% of the country’s electrical needs. Of course the main problem is that this power is only generated when the wind is actually blowing. It does equate to 8.2GW of power which is enough to power 4.5 million homes for a year.
