Ministers have announced new measures to try and crack down on dangerous dog attacks. All dog owners will now have to make sure their pets are microchipped. It is hoped that the measures will make it easier for police to trace the owners of violent dogs. Dog owners have three years to make sure they comply with the regulation. Critics say the regulations will penalise millions of law abiding owners. I would have thought, however, that any responsible pet owner would already have their pet microchipped, all of our cats certainly are. It is more likely to be those involved in breeding dangerous dogs that do not comply with the new rules.
