Microsoft has started
renting its Office suite to users in South Africa. Instead of buying the software users will be able to use it on a pre-pay basis by paying $30 a month. The system is aimed at people who cannot afford to spend $700 for the software. It will be interesting to see whether this works in South Africa, as many users simply use pirated versions of the software so may not be prepared to pay for it.
