This is an interesting idea. Called Photo in Canvas the website www.photoincanvas.co.uk allows you to do just that. Basically they will take your photo and produce a good quality finished photo print with a canvas background and a pine frame. The idea is to turn a favourite photograph into something that can be displayed as an attractive wall hanging. The photos are printed onto 100% cotton canvas up to a size of 30 x 40 inches with a square canvas starting at around £14.99 and the larger sizes costing the region of £80 to £90.

price_grid_3splitThere are a number of printing options available starting with the basic mono or colour photo prints. If you want something a little more unusual they also have finishes such as a sepia print or a colour splash image, where part of the image is printed in full colour in contrast to the main black and white image. Other options include being able to split your picture into split panels either in strips or in squares so that white space appears between them. This is particularly effective with pictures of landscapes and creates three of four unique pictures depending on the options shown, (see left example of a split landscape). They also offer a number of other effects such as printing your picture with an Andy Warhol or Roy Lichtenstein effect, Posterisation or even creating a hand drawn portrait. They offer the facility to create your canvas online by uploading your picture and going through the printing and framing options. Alternatively you can also send them a picture which they will scan and post back to you or contact them directly by phone with your requirements. The canvas prints do make quite an unusual gift, if you are interested in one you can visit website here.
