DSCN1003 I tried a butterfly ball bath bomb from Lush the other day and whilst its not one of favourites it is still quite nice. It turns the bath a rather nice shade of pink and includes little sparkling butterflies (pictured left). At £1.95 its quite good value too.

After my first experience of bath bombs from Lush a few weeks ago, when I tried the Fairy Jasmine bath bomb, I decided to try a couple of others. My experience of the Fairy Jasmine product made me steer clear of anything that contained glitter. I did, however, try two really nice products this week. The first was called the Big Blue. This product (pictured below) turns the bath a really deep blue colour and has a lovely smell. It contains lemon, lavender and bits of seaweed. Initially I was a little dubious of the seaweed, but I found that it sinks to the bottom of the bath so is quite easy to clean up afterwards. After getting over the fact that the seaweed looks a little bit like spiders legs, I really liked this product and will certainly buy it again.

The second product I tried was the Blackberry Bath Bomb. I liked this immediately because it turns the bath water my favourite colour, deep purple. It contains bergamot, frankincense and berries and is perfect for relaxing after a really stressful day. After using this I went straight to sleep and didn’t wake up until late the next morning. I will be getting some more of these.

I tried a bath bomb from lush the other day for the first time. It was one of their Fairy Jasmine bath bombs and contained Jasmine and Ylang Ylang. Whilst I liked the product and found that it left my skin very soft afterwards, I was not prepared for the major clean up operation that followed. The bath bomb contains glitter, glitter that not only takes days to wash off of your skin but also manages to cover the entire bathroom. Even now several days later and despite cleaning the bathroom, I am still finding glitter everywhere. Personally I would prefer this product minus the glitter.

I came across this site called caterpillars creations who make custom made soy candles. Most candles are made from paraffin wax but all the candles made by caterpillars creations are made from 100% natural soy beans making them a much more environmentally friendly alternative. Not only are they a reusable energy source they also last three times longer than petroleum based candles and are virtually soot free.

The website has a variety of candle designs from tealights through to pillar candles and votives. Once you have selected which style of candle you want, you also have the option to fully customise your candle by selecting the colour and fragrance that you require. This is particularly useful especially when you are planning an event such as a wedding as it can be hard to find the right colour combination to match your other table decorations.

I saw this article in The Metro about a pillow that apparently helps prevent hangovers. The pillow is stuffed with various plant extracts including fennel, juniper, mustard and peppermint, all of which are meant to counter the effects of a hangover. Personally I frequently sprinkle lavender oil on my pillow when I am having trouble sleeping and use peppermint or eucalyptus if I have a blocked up nose. I find that when doing this I awake felling much more rested the following morning. At only £7.50 even if it doesn’t cure your hangover this pillow is likely to help you have a restful nights sleep.
